Dioxin

Category Archives

Dioxins is a collective name for various organic compounds that may be released by combustion of chlorinated hydrocarbons. There are over 200 different dioxins, of which almost 10% is highly toxic.

In the environment, dioxins are found in low concentrations. They may arise during combustion in industrial processes, for instance in waste incineration plants. Through polluted air and water, dioxins can enter our food chain, especially in meat and fish, eggs, and dairy products.
